If you buy solar mounting products, you know aluminum prices are very high right now(The highest point in past 4 years). At ArtSign, we use a lot of aluminum for our solar rails, mid clamps, end clamps, and carport systems. So, we feel the pressure too.

Why is this happening? It is not because suppliers just want to make more money. There is a real supply problem in the world right now.
According to a recent news report from Mining.com.au, the aluminum spot price went over US$3,333 per ton in early March. The news report explains two main reasons for this:
Big Factory Stopped Shipping: A huge aluminum company in Bahrain called Alba had to declare "force majeure." This means they cannot finish their orders because of things they cannot control. Because of the conflicts and missile strikes in the Middle East, they had to stop sending out their products through the sea.
Another Factory Shut Down: Another big aluminum factory in Qatar, called Qatalum, is shutting down because their gas supply stopped. The news says it might take them 6 to 12 months to open again!

Because these big factories stopped, there is much less aluminum in the market. When there is less material, the price goes up for everyone.
